Eva @ Off the Map Tattoo
Easthampton, MA
please be patient for new ph#
Born and raised in the city best known for it's brutal snowy winters, and lush hot summers, Eva Huber is relocating to Easthampton MA from Buffalo NY after twenty four years. After her initial tattoo apprenticeship ended in a traditional 'Flash' shop, she dove straight into the realm of 'Custom Tattooing'. "Re-learning how to draw specifically FOR a tattoo was and continues to be one of the greater challenges about this trade. The technical application is more so strict fact, trial, and error, also a greater challenge, but also actually really very enjoyable to learn about. All of this information passed on to you from others who have learned from others, it really is something else" I have been drawing my entire life, I would draw on other kids at school, along with my clothes, papers, notebooks, and walls at home. I've been fortunate enough to have worked with those that I have, picking up and learning little tips and tricks to help me get better along the way. Criticism along with patience has really been the best teacher. I hope to keep doing what I do now only on a larger scale and with even more artistic trust from each and every client. I want to make something unique, well executed and one of a kind for each and every person who gives me the privilege to permanently adorn them. Thank you.

This piece was done on a wonderful client of mine back in Buffalo, NY while I was working for Cory Cudney. Anyone in the WNY area should certainly check out his shop, it is housed with killer, custom tattoo artists and one of the most caring piercers the body modification industry has to offer. Sarah left me with a quote and basically gave me free reign over the design limiting my work space. Basically, the quote she gave me with was along the lines of "it's a difficult time for dreamers". The energy ord- burst from her forehead blending into the hair/ waves of energy signify thoughts, or dreams, and as you can see they are being put to the test as they wind through the gears [I'm sure some of us can relate to that feeling] however, don't dismiss the wings sprouting from her chest as if to say 'keep going' and continue to be free, for wings are surely a symbol of freedom and movement. Energy is seen throughout the piece in the example of lightning and other orb- bursts. There is also a dark orchid growing up from underneath and over her shoulder to represent further growth and beauty. It's important to see the beauty inside of the struggle for when recognized it can be a wonderful tool for growth. Ah, to be a custom artist :)
