I began tattooing in the summer of 1992 when my older brother Harry came up with the idea. I had always been into drawing and felt I was a good artist. Early on many shops turned me down, but I never gave up. I didn't have an apprenticeship, so I had to learn a lot by reading and trying to get people to let me practice on them. I was able to catch on and I finally got my first job. I moved to a few different shops in CT trying to learn more and expand my skills. Initially, I did not do much color because I didn’t have experience with it. In 2003, I finally got the chance to work with a very talented crew at Darkside Tattoo in East Haven, CT. There, I learned a lot from all the artists, especially Lou Jacque and Nick Baxter. I also picked up various techniques on how to use colors. Darkside was also where I met Gabe, owner of Off the Map Tattoo where I work now. When Darkside closed down I waited for Gabe to open up his own shop and came to be part of his crew. I really enjoy giving my costumers whatever they want. I aim to make my client as happy as I can. I love doing custom pieces and color work, but also enjoy black and grey. I enjoy a challenge and trying things I never tried before. Thank you for taking time to read this and hope to see you soon. JB

This was based on the costumers idea of a celtic koi tattoo. A couple of shops told him it can't be done. This tattoo was lots of fun.
