Carson Hill Tattoos
Newbury Park, CA
At 28 years old, I have been tattooing 8 years, painting 3. Although I have always considered myself an artist, it was tattooing that led to canvas. To decide which is the preferred medium at this point would be an impossibility. Lets just say that, at this point in my artistic career, they go hand in hand. I served an apprenticeship at a local shop in the Los Angeles area. It was pretty much your typical shop-helper turned apprentice situation, and helped me learn the basics of tattooing. Very special thanks to Jim Hayek for helping me through that period of my career. I have since worked among some of the greatest tattooists alive, and I am very grateful for that. I have many artistic influences. Alex Grey. An amazing painter with a magnificent body of work. Alex is also a Shaman of type, a spiritual leader, if you will. Salvador Dali, of course, has always caught my very deep attention, with paintings which speak to you. And how could I go another step without mentioning Guy Aitchison? Guy has inspired me personally more than anyone else. His paintings and tattoos are some of the best on Earth, and nothing is more gratifying than to be able to collect from and collaborate with one of your biggest influences. Other major influences include Mike Cole, a close friend and great artist, H.R. Giger, the famous painter, as well as just about every artist I come across. There are so many great artists to take influence from, I feel it a shame not to take all the influence I can get. My goal as an artist of any kind is to improve. To further understand dimensional reality, light and shadow and how it plays with all things, the complexity of simplicity, the depth of infinity, and so on, and interpret it into my work. To further define my subtle message through each artwork I bring into manifestation. Thanks to the Deity of Tattooing, the Tattoo Industry, and the Tattoo Community for making all of this possible.
